A summons is a Court notifying you of misdemeanor charges filed against and ordering you to appear in Court for an arraignment. A summons should not be ignored and if one fails to appear to the arraignment, the Court will issue a warrant for your arrest. If you receive a summons, it’s best if you talk to an attorney before the arraignment date, because in most cases a misdemeanor arraignment can be waived without your appearance.
